Bellavista was set up in the early 20th century, on the Montalbano crossroads from Empoli to Pistoia, a refreshment spot for passers-by and holidaymakers, in San Baronto, 8 km from Vinci, the town of Leonardo’s birth.
Aunt Augusta Martelli’s property was handed down to her nephew, Siro Verdiani, Chef and manager of this Restaurant Hotel for around 30 years until his death in 1980.
Today the building is managed by Alberta Verdiani and her children Rachele and Matteo, who welcome clients from all over the world with the same passion and authenticity as of old, creating the very same family atmosphere and making clients feel at home.

The hotel is set on a hill with three panoramic terrace levels, deep in nature and dominating the view over the whole of Valdinievole for more than 70 km. The panoramic swimming pool and sun terrace are on the highest levels.

Montalbano – extending over three provinces, Pistoia, Prato and Florence – offers tourists nature itineraries, by both bike and on foot, and breath-taking 360° views stretching from the sea to the mountains.

Furthermore, it is a strategic point for visits to Tuscany’s most important cultural and artistic sites. The small hamlet of Borgo di San Baronto, the site of the hotel, offers peace and quiet for those looking for relaxation, and just a short distance further afield there are plenty of night clubs for those looking for a good time.
Cycling lovers will find San Baronto a must, as the saint is also patron saint of Tuscany’s cyclists.
